The Omega Group is a family owned Group of companies’ launched in 1982. In 2012 Sky Tel launched its own GSM Mobile Devices to the Sri Lankan market with Quality and Affordability in mind for the mass, selling more than half a million units with its Island Wide Distribution and Dealer Network.
Sky Mobile devices are manufactured under strict quality supervision in state of Art Factories which manufacture Mobile Phones for International leading brands.

In 2017 Sky Tel was appointed as Sole Distributor for Sri Lanka for itel Mobile, which is one of the top 10 brand in China. Also, popular in almost 55 countries in the world for Smart and Feature phones.

Objectives

  • As a plan for 2016 and future, promoting the ranges and requirements of smart phones & Tabs to Corporates and the Government sector will be a priority.
  • Mainly targeting the good work and support provided by Sky Tel for past 18 years to be carried forward with a prospective manner.
  • Strengthen and increase the existing Distributer network of 35 and support 1000 plus retailers handled by them.

Former Chairman of Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation. (SLBC) 2017 -2019

The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, the national broadcaster has long history and a proven track record.
The radio station has been on air since 1925 and is the first radio station in Asia. Broadcast commenced just 03 years after the launch of BBC.
The organization has an island wide network comprising of 14 radio channels in Sinhala, Tamil, and English. It has a work force of 800 employees.
In keeping with the public service commitment of SLBC, The digital innovations have been extended to the regional radio stations that largely service the rural populations.

Sky Tel kicked of operations as a Key Partner for Hutchison Telecom. Since then Sky Tel has been in the forefront in supplying E TAC and AMPs, Mobile Handsets to Celltel, Dialog Axiata, Hutchison Telecom and Mobitel.

In 2001 Star Mobile (Pvt) Ltd., was appointed as an authorized business partner for Mobitel’s products & services.  

In 2003 Bell Star (Pvt) Ltd., was incorporated as a Subsidiary Company, to represent Siemens Mobile in Sri Lanka, a then popular brand in many countries.

Bell Star was also a business partner for Dialog GSM and was the only Duty Free Mobile Store Outlet in Colombo International Airport.  

Android Smart Phones

As a part of its strength in the market, 2014 made Sky Mobile reach a milestone in launching the first Smart Phone to the Sri Lanka market as a Local brand. Presently promoting four smartphone models in its portfolio.

In late 2014 Sky Tel was appointed as Sole Distributor for Sri Lanka for Cherry range of Products, which is a leading brand in Philippines.
